CyberWorks: Cyber Florida's Cybersecurity Workforce Development Program
Cyber Florida launched their cybersecurity workforce development program, CyberWorks, to meet the job supply demand and hopes to diversify the career field by offering career training for transitioning military veterans and first responders and those who identify as women, people of color, and/or neurodiverse professionals. Through a grant funded by the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) with the goal of establishing a national certificate-based cybersecurity workforce development program, CyberWorks is offered as a partnership with thirteen other NCAE-C designated higher education institutions hosting similar local training programs. JPMorgan Chase is another key supporter providing additional funding to help enhance the student's experience in the program. In collaboration with the Florida Center for Instructional Technology also housed at the University of South Florida, Cyber Florida created a model cybersecurity talent pipeline by providing professional development experiences and a high-quality curriculum aligned to the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Cybersecurity Workforce Framework work role of Cyber Defense Analyst. CyberWorks is a nineteen-week virtual program preparing adult students to enter the cybersecurity workforce as Tier 1 security operations analysts.
